How Important is Health?

In addition to the benefits of being physically fit, the importance of health goes beyond a person’s lifespan. It affects all aspects of life – your emotional and spiritual state, physical fitness, and even your financial well-being. Physical well-being is important in many ways, but mental illness, in particular, is detrimental to all aspects of a person’s life. Mental illness leads to drug use and adverse effects on physical health.

Good health is crucial to human happiness, and it also contributes significantly to human prosperity and wealth. People with a strong immune system are more productive than those with a weakened immune system. Good health starts with eating right, sleeping enough, and avoiding unhealthy food and beverages. Ensure that your diet contains the right mix of vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, and minerals. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, too. You’ll be glad you did.

According to a 2005 study, the vast majority of Americans think health research is important. They are interested in the results of research studies and believe it benefits the country. In addition, nearly 80 percent of those polled said they had a strong interest in health research. Overall, the U.S. ranks low compared to other developed nations when it comes to life expectancy. Access to healthcare and lifestyle choices may have something to do with this, but one thing is clear: good health is important to lifelong happiness.
